The Life Enrichment Center of Norfolk's programs rely on our committed and dedicated network of volunteers living throughout Hampton Roads. 

Volunteers like you can help out in the following areas:

Mentoring

  • Volunteers are asked to complete an application, sit for an interview and attend a mentor training session.
  • Mentors meet with middle school students for one hour each week during the school year to provide general academic support and encouragement.

Tutoring

  • Tutors meet with elementary students at Richard Bowling and Jacox Elementary Schools in Norfolk, VA for one hour, 1-2 days each week throughout the academic year.
  • Tutors assist in developing and helping students improve reading skills using Project Light's computer software.

Outreach

The Life Enrichment Center has several outreach initiatives during the year which include:

  • Distributing backpacks and supplies to elementary students in need
  • Preparing meals and feeding the poor in designated areas of Hampton Roads
  • Visiting the sick and disabled individuals at areas nursing homes
  • Participating in holiday outreaches to the poor
